Conscience of the Senate

The left has on occassion referred to Sen. Robert Byrd as the "conscience of the Senate." I suppose if their moral highground is held by a former Klansmen, well, that's their call. But for me, after reading this Bob Novak column I think the title should belong to Sen. Tom Coburn.
:
Edit: I should point out that Coburn has a tendency to say things that make him appear to be completely insane. Another reason he is perfect for the job.
