Yet another election is set to take place this weekend, this time in Poland. Unlike the close calls in Germany and New Zealand, a decisive victory is expected -- for the country's free-market Civic Platform party.
The Civic Platform party's agenda includes cutting Poland's high nonwage labor costs, reducing the government red tape that has discouraged business investment and installing a flat 15% tax on personal and corporate income.
"In today's world, to fight poverty and reduce unemployment, nobody has thought up a better alternative to expanding the free market, cutting taxes and deregulation," said Jan Rokita, the Civic Platform party leader and likely next prime minister, in an interview.
Sounds like the kind of thinking we could use more of in the U.S.
