Rebuilding

I've seen a lot of predictable talk from politicians about how New Orleans is going to be rebuilt and will be better than ever. Congress and President Bush in an effort to improve their standing with the American people are sure to fall all over each other in spending money on the effort. Indeed, Bush is already proposing a bill that would spend $50 billion in immediate aid alone. I predict a lot of mismanagement, wasted money and Robert Byrd getting a new bridge built.
:
Forgive me if I'm skeptical, because I think I've heard this all before. Remember when the WTC collapsed and people talked about how everything would be rebuilt bigger and better than before? Well, here's ground zero today -- a hole in the ground.
:
That was two buildings. I can't even fathom how screwed up things are going to get when the government tries to rebuild an entire city. This sounds to me like a much better approach.
