Race II

I noticed these comments by DeWayne Wickham that appear to be in a similar vein to remarks by Eugene Robinson:
[Michael Steele's] support of the Voting Rights Act was a good first step. Making clear his position on affirmative action, judicial appointments and the Iraq war would also help blacks decide whether Steele would put the interests of his race over allegiance to party.
First off, are Blacks so monolithic that they all have the same views on judicial appointments and the Iraq war? Would anyone say the same thing about Whites? Asians? Hispanics? Second, we are in a very bad place in this country if the duty of our politicians (or is it only the Black politicians?) to put make looking after members of their race their top priority.
