The New Republic notices a very interesting article in the Weekly Standard and publishes an interesting excerpt.

I'm not sure about everything it says but I agree with at least a couple of things: health care reform needs to be a big priority. It's going to happen one way or another, and I'd probably prefer the GOP version to whatever it is the Dems offer up. Also I think the continue obsession with tax cuts has got to go. I think the existing rates should be made permanent but after that the focus should be on tax simplication. Any further lowering of rates should be accompanied by the closing of loopholes.
