Holiday observations

Out shopping today:

* Overheard a saleswoman tell a customer that the "really big sales" don't start until the 27th. Take that for what it's worth.

* The mall can be a depressing place. I wonder if some of the teenage girls there would even pass the dress code for the infield at a NASCAR race. What makes it worse are the moms who try to imitate their daughters' look.

* It's amazing how people can spend so much money on clothing, jewelry, personal hygeine products, etc. and still manage to look like hell.

* On a related note, velour track suits have got to go. I guess I can maybe kinda see wearing it around the house, but out in public -- mall, airport, etc.?

* Went to Best Buy and played around with the video iPod, watching a Green Day video. I'm pretty impressed. Picture quality and sound are both excellent. But the screen strikes me as too small to make it anything more than a (very) cool toy.

* Green Day must have spent a lot of money on their "When September Ends" video.
