Saddam trial

This is pathetic:

"I'm sad to say that the international community has barely done anything to help Iraq prosecute Saddam Hussein," said Ms. Rice. "All who express their devotion to human rights and rule of law have a special obligation to help the Iraqis bring to justice one of the world's most murderous tyrants. The international community's effective boycott of Saddam's trial is only harming the Iraqi people, who are now working to secure the hope of justice and freedom that Saddam long denied them."

I'd love to know specifically what countries she is referring to. This just goes to show why I don't pay attention to the opinion of the "international community" -- whatever that is -- in the first place. That they have more energy to devote to opposition to the Iraq war than helping prosecute a horrible dictator is a stark illustration of exactly how morally bankrupt they are.

They say you can judge a person by their enemies, which is one reason I generally like Bush -- particularly on the foreign policy front. The list of those opposed to him reads like a who's who of idiots, thugs and charlatans. Their howls of protest is a continuing reassurance to me that he's doing the right thing.

Update: Similarly, the international community's almost uniform opposition to John Bolton's appointment as UN ambassador was a key indication to me that he would do an excellent job -- which seems to be the case.
:
Another update: More international idiocy:

In his latest anti-Israeli assault, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad dismissed the Holocaust as a "myth" and said the Jewish state should be moved as far away as Alaska -- views that one European envoy posted in Tehran described as "way beyond political incorrectness"."

At first, we were tempted to put it down to inexperience or a simple gaffe," he said of the firebrand president's string of outbursts, which began in October with a call for Israel to be "wiped off the map".

Wait, the leader of Iran calls for Israel to be literally wiped off the map and you attribute this to a "simple gaffe"? No, this is a gaffe. Calling for Israel to be destroyed on the other hand isn't exactly a slip of the tongue. Somebody buy these people a clue.

And again: While the international community can't be bothered with the Saddam trial, they are apparently exercised over the execution of Tookie Williams.
