Elections

While looking at the realclearpolitics Election 2006 tracking page I noticed something interesting. 50 House races are being tracked out of 435 while 13 of the Senate races are being tracked out of the 1/3 that are up for re-election in any election year. In percentage terms that means that only 12% of House races are sufficiently competitive to be tracked while 39% of Senate races are. What's the difference? House members often come from gerrymandered districts -- basically they select their voters instead of vice versa -- while Senators enjoy no such luxury.
