I watched The Last King of Scotland last weekend. Good flick. It prompted a discussion among some of the viewers about how badly European imperialists screwed up Africa by artificially designing countries that didn't reflect tribal/ethnic realities, forcing different peoples to live together.
And it's an argument that makes a lot of sense. But it also calls into question the oft-repeated mantra that diversity is a strength. (Interestingly a google search for the phrase "diversity is a strength yields 3,030,000 hits.)
