D.C. gun crime

D.C. passed its current handgun ban in 1976. Since then:
Even as the homicide toll declined here after 1991, the percentage of killings committed with firearms remained far higher than it was when the ban was passed. Guns were used in 63 percent of the city's 188 slayings in 1976. Last year, out of 169 homicides, 81 percent were shootings.
Hmmm.

Exactly, The framers of the constitution intended to allow citizens to arm themselves for a well regulated militia, whose duty it is to protect life and property, but now that we are in a different world than the framers, the right to bear arms for personal protection of life and property should not be taken from the law-abiding citizens of D.C.
