Forgot to mention that the Club for Growth issued their Senate RePORK Card on Monday. It should be depressing reading for any self-respecting Democrat. Only one Democrat, Sen. Russ Feingold scored above 50% (80%). The next highest Democrat scored at 40% (Sen. Claire McCaskill). As the CfG itself notes, "The average Republican score was 59%; the average Democratic score was 12%."
Funny behavior for people that have directed so much criticism against the Bush Administration for deficit spending. This just goes to show that it's not the spending per se that bugs them, it's the tax cuts.
Not that Republicans are angels -- 7 of them scored 20% or less -- but the difference between the two parties is noticeable. From a non-partisan standpoint it's also depressing, this should be an issue that Americans of all political persuasions can agree on.
Update: And boy has the Bush Administration been bad on spending. Read the end of this post to get a feel for it. The really funny part to me is how many people on left such as Paul Krugman believe that Bush was out to eviscerate the government and roll back the New Deal. If only.
