If Barack Obama is elected president you can bet that the unions, that he has so assiduously courted, will demand their pound of flesh. Chief among their demands: no more secret ballots for unionization votes. They aren't the only ones with a long wish list as Reason magazine details. The lunatics are truly going to be running the asylum. I think that all of the following are realistic:
* Withdrawal and de facto defeat in Iraq (and attendant humanitarian disaster)
* End of secret ballots for unionization votes
* Increased income taxes
* Moves towards health care nationalization
* No more free trade deals
* Increased government spending on wasteful environmental initiatives
* Supreme Court justices who interpret the Constitution not as it was written, but to suit their own political interests
It's going to be enough to make you pine for Bill Clinton, who despite everything else at least signed NAFTA, welfare reform and a capital gains tax cut.
