Thought exercise: You have to choose from among the following to be the next President: Hillary Clinton, John Edwards or Barack Obama. Who do you pick? I take Obama every time. Now add Al Gore and John Kerry to the mix, does that change your mind? I'm still taking Obama. While I have fierce disagreements with him over policy, he doesn't seem to bring the same tawdriness that are the hallmarks of Clinton and Edwards, the stunning hypocrisy of Gore or haughty/aloofness of Kerry. (yeah, I know, he isn't perfect, but I am judging him on a relative scale as a politican)
Perhaps in time he will make my skin crawl, but as of right now he is the only person among the five names that doesn't give me a visceral reaction. I actually think that talking with him would be a pretty interesting experience -- something I am not sure can be said for the rest.
I'm almost looking forward to having a president from the other side that doesn't actively repulse me.
