HUD

One would imagine that the Department of Housing and Urban Development would know a thing or two about buildings. This, however, is the brutalist monstrosity that serves as the department's headquarters:

It's a building even the Soviets would have winced at. Note the weird saucer-like things in the foreground that I believe are supposed to serve as an inviting area for people to hang out. Indeed, the entire area around L'Enfant plaza is an architectural nightmare.

Why would anyone let these people get involved in building an outhouse, much less play a major role in the nation's housing stock? It continues to baffle me why people link government with expertise and profound insight.

While the "Soviets would have winced", they would be very pleased with the way HUD tramples individual rights while shaking down businesses. They move this nation ever closer to an "entitlement" nation.

This is a government agency that is no longer needed. They and their HUD-sponsored agencies (like ACORN) were key in shaking down banks, lenders, realtors, etc to get people with poor credit mortgages they could not afford. The irony is the US Taxpayer gives our money to these incompetent morons and they in turn use it to bring down this country. There time of usefulness has been long gone. This building is acutally quite appropriate for HUD. We need to fire the staff and then bring in the wrecking ball. If anything should take its place, it should be a memorial to all the peoples lives they have ruined along the way.
