Interesting statistic I saw today:
Washington DC murders in 2007: 181
For those unfamiliar with the DC area, Arlington is directly across the river from DC and actually used to be part of the city until 1846. In DC guns are virtually impossible to obtain legally while in Virginia you can not only get them legally but obtain a concealed weapons permit.
