Quote of the day

Two hundred days ago:
And those of us who manage the public's dollars will be held to account, to spend wisely, reform bad habits, and do our business in the light of day, because only then can we restore the vital trust between a people and their government.

Nor is the question before us whether the market is a force for good or ill. Its power to generate wealth and expand freedom is unmatched.

-- President Barack Obama, Jan. 20, 2009
You can decide for yourself about the first part of that statement. The second, part while absolutely true, is difficult to reconcile with a stimulus package that relies more on spending than tax cuts, industrial policy in the form of green jobs, a barrage of criticism against the health insurance industry and CEO pay as well as a health care reform package that expands government involvement at the expense of the private sector.
