Health care round up

  • While much of the health care talk in this country centers on the use of a "public option", the Los Angeles Times says many Canadians would like to move towards a private option.
  • Michael F. Cannon and Ramesh Ponnuru respond to President Obama's health care rhetoric with "You mislead!"
  • Apparently under proposed legislation those who refuse to purchase health care insurance could be punished with up to a year in jail.
  • The New York Times reports some politicians are seeking amendments to their state constitutions to prohibit the mandatory purchase of insurance.
  • The Washington Post has a story on why excess health care is as problematic as fears over rationing. Not sure the two are equivalent problems, but over-consumption of health care due to the use of insurance and fears over lawsuits is certainly a flaw in the current system.
