Here is an AP story about Cubans fearful of more government control of farmers markets. They seem to realize something many Americans fail to grasp: more government intervention does not improve matters.

Politico reports that Nancy Pelosi sees the current $894 billion dollar bill as just the start on health care, with more legislation to follow. I'm not sure how much more of this woman we can afford.
I could do without his social conservatism and obsession with the death penalty, but Senator Coburn seems like a useful ally to fiscal conservatives.
I do love the response from Senator Reid's staffer about Coburn being Dr. "I know best." This is the classical logical fallacy those who argue for greater government involvement always make - that simply saying no on the grounds that no one knows best is somehow saying "I know best". No.... no one knows best, not even me. That's what market-based systems always teach us - no person or group of people can consistently outpeform the wisdom of an entire marketplace allowed to act in their own best interests over the long term. The audacity of people making that argument, who they themselves believe they know so much as to declare into which basket to put all of our eggs, is galling to me.
