There are 400,000 European-born scientific researchers in the United States.
Maybe they're just here for easier access to weekends in Las Vegas. Or maybe it's the health care system.

so...under the current system, private insurance deny people coverage because of pre-existing conditions. then people die.

what's the free market solution to that?

(Dems are proposing to expand medicare - to provide a government-run "competitor" - to do the above. Why's the GOP against that competition? why don't they want people with pre-existing conditions to get insurance?)

The free market solution to that is to expand competition to drive down costs so that people can afford health care.

The government does a terrible job of providing competition. The US Postal Service doesn't provide competition to UPS and Fedex, they provide competition to USPS.

If Democrats want competition, why don't they favor allowing the interstate purchase of insurance? It would expand competition and cost nothing?

Their failure to embrace such action belies their professed concern about competition.
