Imagine you have a budget of $10,000 (about 40 percent of it borrowed on a credit card), then "slash" 28 bucks. That's what it's like to be a frugal Democrat.
The sad part is that Republican proposed cuts only amount to $160 in this context. Sen. Rand Paul's proposed $500 billion cut, meanwhile, would be the equivalent of a $1,300 reduction -- and yet he's the extremist.
