Fun fact: the first high-speed rail line built in Spain was between Seville and Madrid (which I used to get here), despite the fact that Seville is only Spain's 4th largest city (behind Barcelona and Valencia). Coincidentally, Spain's prime minister at the time the government decided to build the line, Felipe González, is a native of Seville.
