hmmm

i suppose i owe colin a "serious" post. i imagine he's checking up on me, by candlelight, in some dusty Colorado cabin, shaking his head in disgust.

so...did you all see this?

“In early 2004, as the cost of the conflict in Iraq soared, President Bush proposed spending less than 20 percent of what the Corps said was needed for Lake Pontchartrain, according to a Feb. 16, 2004, article, in New Orleans CityBusiness.”

What a relief to know that he signed a pork-filled spending bill, letting Alaska build a bridge to an uninhabited island, and a litany of other irrelevant things, while underfunding levee construction.

How would you feel if you lost your home or a family member because of this sickening incompetence?

The parallels to 9-11 abound: Bush, clearing brush in the Texas plains, asleep at the fucking switch. I do think he has a decent heart and is well-intentioned. Up at 30,000 feet, he'll look at the wreckage and get choked up, and pray, and cry and wring his hands, and I have no reason to believe he's not sincere.

But he is thoroughly ill-equipped to protect it's citizens; he has the wrong priorities. And once again, too little too late.

I hope there is a hell and i hope it is hot. Let God judge him harshly.
