The Washington Post has an article today about the number of dead soldiers that have come from the Baltimore area:
As War's Death Toll Rises, Grief Becomes a Way of Life in Baltimore:...Nearly 100 service members with ties to Maryland, Virginia and the District have been killed in the conflict, according to a Washington Post analysis of Pentagon casualty figures. Eleven have been from the Baltimore area.
So apparently grief has become a way of life in Baltimore because 11 soldiers have died in Iraq over the past 2.5 years. One would think, however, that the citizens of Baltimore would be far more grief-stricken over the 276 people murdered in that city last year alone. But I haven't seen any articles about that.

And you wonder why people suspect the media of highlighting the Iraq death toll not out of genuine compassion, but a desire to promote a certain agenda. But maybe I'm just overly cynical.

Update: Here's another interesting take on the media.
