I don't have many, but there are a few rules I live by:
1. Don't spend more money than you make.
2. Look both ways before crossing.
3. No foreign films.
Well, last night I broke rule #3. Boy was that a mistake. I went to the E St. Cinema to check out Gespenster, a German movie about, well, I'm still trying to figure that out. Seriously, before the movie started I was reading a brief description that had the running time listed as 85 minutes. "85 minutes," I thought, "that's so short!" Then after the movie started I was soon wondering "When will the 85 minutes ever end?"

Now, I could blame the person that convinced me to go for this mistake, or I could blame all of Germany, but really, I only have myself. What was I thinking? Look, if you want a decent car, you get one from Japan. Seeing a movie made in Germany is the equivalent of buying a car made in Tanzania. It just doesn't work.
Hollywood drops their fair share of bombs, but they're still the best operation going for movies.
