Supreme Court

I noticed that in the Supreme Court ruling on assisted suicide that the newest member of the court, John Roberts, sided with conservative stalwarts Thomas and Scalia. Now, take out Sandra Day O'Connor, replace her with Alito, and a 6-3 decision becomes 5-4. Then, if something should happen to 85 (almost 86) year old John Paul Stevens in the next couple of years...

As for the decision itself, I haven't read enough to make much of an informed opinion. I do believe that doctors should be able to help patients kill themselves. However, I don't know if the opposition of Thomas, Scalia and Roberts was based on their moral beliefs or simply the belief that the federal government -- for better or worse -- does have the jurisdiction to ban doctors from prescribing federally controlled drugs. I hope it's the latter.
