Started reading this last night. A few interesting facts I've run across so far:
* Steel drum bands in Trinidad got a big lift when they started making use of 55 gallon oil drums discarded from U.S. troops stationed there during WWII.
* Saddam Hussein chose Frank Sinatra's "My Way" as the theme song for his fifty-fourth birthday.
* Many African artists who incorporate beads into their work originally imported the beads from Czechoslovakia.
