Watched something the Discovery Times channel the other day about Angkor Wat. The narrator went on and on about what treasures these buildings are and how they were built by a great king of the Khmer people.
Really? I just kept thinking to myself about the massive costs involved, costs that were likely paid for either by the spoils or war or taxes. While modern day archeologists may consider the king great, I bet his people hated him considering that the labor and money was probably taken from the people to built these great monuments to indulge his ego.
How little things change.
