Menace in Europe

Read this last week. To be honest I didn't find it terribly compelling. The first half of the book makes some excellent points about Europe's flaws, but this is a story that is told in better fashion in While Europe Slept. The writing is very good and the author employs razor-sharp, biting wit that reminds me somewhat of Anne Coulter.

As the book goes on, however, I got the impression that the author had begun to run out of ideas, and was making mountains out of molehills. One of the final chapters, for example, was a seeming attempt to explain the German psyche via the lyrics of the band Rammstein. Maybe it was really insightful and just went over my head, but it stuck me as somewhat lazy.
